According to my Doc, I was supposed to take Progesterone cream on the day 17?

The thing is I didn't ovulated on that day, as I have heard one is supposed to use this cream AFTER the ovulation. I am expecting to have my periods on 24th-27th.

I heard that it helps to have/regulate ur menstruation cycle.. if so, how can it sustain and 'shelter' a pregnancy?

Plz educate me about this cream.

Thanks a lot.According to my Doc, I was supposed to take Progesterone cream on the day 17?
Don't take it if you haven't ovulated- it will stop you from ovulating. It regulates your cycle by initiating your period after you stop taking it (it mimics what happens in your body- after ovulation there is a dramatic rise in progesterone that last for 12-16 days, after which there is a sharp decline that initiates your period). As long as you take it, you will not get your period (provided the dosage is high enough) and that's how it supports the pregnancy.

If you are taking it to help support the uterine lining after ovulation, start taking it about 3 days after ovulation. I'm assuming you are charting your BBT (and that's how you know you haven't ovulated). Your doctor was basing his/her instructions on the ';average'; ovulation date of day 14. However, since you haven't ovulated, you need to adjust the instructions.

The other thing to consider is what your doctor is actually having you take. If he/she is giving you prescription strength stuff, then you are fine. If, however, he/she is telling you to use over-the-counter stuff, it may not be strong enough. I currently take 400mg of progesterone daily after ovulation- the over the counter stuff usually only contains about 40mg daily. If your doctor isn't giving you prescription stuff, ask him/her about it.

Best of luck to you and lots of baby dust!!!
