Cream leather sofa , any ideas how to get off day to day 'grime'?

You need to use a good quality water based foam leather cleaner. Maxi Cleaner if it is really dirty

DO NOT use anything containing oils, waxes or silicones. (Most 'conditioners' contain waxes or oils) and furniture polish contains silicones

BABY WIPES are the worst thing you can use as they will destroy the finish on your leather. They are very strong alkiline cleaners to neutralise urine (acid) on babys skin so they are not the right thing to use on leather.

Saddle soap is too harsh to use on todays furniture.

A lot of leather wipes contain chemicals which will also destroy the finish or leave residues on the leather which will damage it. They are not cheap in the long run as you would need a lot to clean a whole leather sofa. A bottle of foam cleaner should do your furniture 1-2 times.

You should also follow this with a good water based leather protector which will act like a 'scotchgard' and inhibit dirt and stains from being absorbed and make cleaning easier the next time.

Dry leather needs rehydrating with water and oils and waxes should not be used as the natural oils do not dry out of leather. Wiping over with a damp cloth regularly will help to do this.

We have just sent a technican out this morning to a lady whose leather has been completely destroyed by baby wipes, please please do not use them.

if its just normal day to day cleaning try soapy water and a sponge, but if your house is anything like mine and you have a 2 year old that like to draw on the sofa with a ball point pen then try using shaving foam as its a high concentrated soap and will shift any thing, don't scrub it as it will wreck the leather just leave in for a few minutes then wipe of with a soft cloth.Cream leather sofa , any ideas how to get off day to day 'grime'?
baby wipes (the ones with baby lotion in) The wipes clean and the lotion nourishes your leather
How about trying saddle soap? It's a cleaner that is intended specifically for leather; you can generally get it anywhere you find shoe polish, in the same type of small, flat can.
TRY A WAX BASED POLISH LIKE PLEDGE FURNITURE POLISH. IT WORKS ON MY SEAT COVERS!
Clean it with saddle soap and then keep it clean by giving it a rub with a baby wipe from time to time.
Saddle soap or tack cleaner available from saddlery and tack shops. The brand I use is Carr, Day and Martin, I clean the cream leather in My car with it and it leaves it spotless every time and in great condition too, after a little leather food.
Baby wipes are the best / cheapest thing you can try!
Try baby wipes - they shift most stuff and won't dry out leather.
Hello mum of 3,You can use Baby wipes or Detox wipes they are both very good, but I normally use Fairy liquid, a very small amount in some tepid water soft sponge, then a damp clean cotton cloth to make sure no sud麓s are left then dry with another cotton cloth . Really come麓s up nice
I usually use a small amount of washing up liquid in a bowl of warm water and sponge it over. Then dry it off with a dry duster. You could get a leather cleaner but thats for treatment as opposed to cleaning. I bought the leather cleaning wipes which are good for daily wiping.
baby wipes are great for this
i use a spot washing up liquid on an almost dampcloth, but remember to dry the area properly
You can buy leather cleaning wipes from the supermarket - cost about 拢5 for 10 sheets, they also keep the leather supple and don't take the dye out of the leather .....

They may have been branded for car leather seats - but worked equally well on our sofa.

remember to test on an area hidden from view first !

Happy spring cleaning!
try Dreft Washing powder, works great for me !
